Out and About Locally

Fabulous Italian Food at Rosemarino

We recently enjoyed a wonderful night out, which began with a special dinner at the highly recommended local Italian restaurant, Rosmarino. Melanie made a reservation for the two of us, and we decided to treat ourselves to a comfortable and convenient Uber ride to the restaurant. To our surprise, our driver turned out to be none other than our neighbour! It was a great opportunity to catch up during the short ride, which took less than ten minutes.

When we arrived, the warm and welcoming staff at Rosmarino promptly showed us to our table, and we settled in for a memorable dining experience.

Irresistible Starters at Rosmarino

We kicked things off with a snack we couldn’t resist: Coccoli con Prosciutto e Stracchino. For those unfamiliar, this is a delicious serving of light, fluffy dough balls paired with thinly sliced cured ham and creamy Stracchino cheese. It was the perfect way to whet our appetites before moving on to our real starters.

Melanie opted for the breaded goat cheese with raspberry sauce, which was a delightful combination of textures and flavours—crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, with a tangy-sweet sauce to complement it. I went for the beef tartare, beautifully seasoned and served with teriyaki sauce and ponzu mayo, adding an umami twist to this classic dish.

Main Courses That Didn’t Disappoint

For our main courses, Melanie selected the braised beef cheek, slow-cooked to perfection and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the gnocchetti with broccoli cream, a rich and satisfying dish that balanced the hearty gnocchi with the freshness of the broccoli sauce.

Of course, no meal would be complete without dessert, and we couldn’t resist indulging. Melanie chose a classic cannoli, with its crisp pastry and sweet ricotta filling, while I opted for a Sicilian lemon tart, which had just the right amount of zesty sharpness and buttery crust.

Excellent Service and Warm Hospitality

Every course was exceptional, and the service was equally impressive. The staff at Rosmarino were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. We even managed to chat briefly with them about our proposed trip to Sicily next year, and they offered us some great tips for our travels.

After such a delicious meal, we were feeling comfortably full, but instead of calling another Uber, we decided to take advantage of our Freedom Passes for a relaxed journey home on public transport.

Final Thoughts on Rosmarino

If you’re in the mood for authentic Italian cuisine with a welcoming atmosphere, Rosmarino is a must-visit. From the expertly crafted dishes to the excellent service, this local gem truly made our evening special. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
